Dear Scouts & Scouters HOPE SUMMER WAS GOOD. GOD BLESS OUR UPCOMING NEW SCOUTING SEASON. PLEASE READ EVERY WORD OF THIS VERY IMPORTANT E MAIL. Among other things, this will be the Year of the Patrol. Consistent with the 474 philosophy of remaining active in outdoor adventures and community service, this year’s plan is to focus on patrol development and training of patrol leaders. This needs everyone’s constructive positive contribution to the program run solely by volunteers. The troop has grown significantly. Growth and development of our scouts and our 474 program requires good organization and communication. 1. Greenbar Meeting will be held this Thursday 9/8 at 7:00 at First Congregational Church. THE ATTENDEES SHOULD INCLUDE SENIOR PATROL SCOUTS (i.e. High School Scouts), TROOP GUIDES AND PATROL LEADERS and REGISTERED ADULT LEADERS WISHING TO PLAY AN ACTIVE ROLE AS ASSISTANT SCOUT MASTERS (i.e. become attached to a specific patrol for direct development of the patrol). The purpose of the meeting will be for the boy run boy led organization to sort Senior Patrol Leadership, sort out Troop Guide assignments, agree to monthly troop themes, and agree to program for the upcoming year ( at least next few months). One thought is to break up the high school level patrol into two Patrols, one being a Venture Patrol and another being a Senior Patrol. Both patrols and troop guides will be encouraged to work with all other patrol leaders. Every scout and scouter is welcome to attend as observers but cannot disrupt what will be a very important working meeting sorting out direction of the operating program. Agenda of the meeting will be available that night. Any scout who is unsure about his position, seeking leadership position and the like are encouraged to come down. EVERYONE IS URGED TO REMAIN PATIENT WHILE WE LET BOY LEADERSHIP DEVELOP IN WAYS WHICH MAY SEEM INEFFICIENT TO SOME ADULTS. To the extent there seems to be perceived injustice in some way, TRUST everything can get fixed over the course of the next few weeks. We have to start somewhere! 2. Registered Adult Leaders seeking to actively participate as Assistant Scout Masters actively working with specific patrol assignment are encouraged to attend this very important meeting of 9/8/05 at the FCC at 7:00pm. Although there are obviously predictable adults, everyone is welcome. 3. Committee meeting – First committee meeting this Sunday 9/11/05 at 7:00 pm at the FCC upstairs. Thank you Mr. Laudano, Troop Chairman, and Mr. Federici Church Liaison & Wood Duck Guru, Mr. Heinemann Treasurer, Mr. Terwilliger Rank Advancement Chairman, Mr. Genera Eagle Advancement Chairman, Mr. Clark Merit Badge Counselor Chairman, Mr. Malinowski Web Master Chairman, and all the good reliable adult volunteers including Mrs. Jagielski, Mr. Aery…Mr. McCloskey, Acampora, Brechlin, Braccio, McGregor, Carroll, Casinelli, Laird, Landon, VanSteenbergen, Conrad, Slattery, Dudley, Paskiewicz, VanDongen …. and the list goes on for diverse adult leadership rich in talent and commitment .
