I've forwarded this message to everyone that I have
addresses for to expedite distribution.
The food drive is happening this Saturday 5/14 in cooperation with the US Postal
Service and the Guilford Food Bank. I've been in contact with postal
supervisors who tell me that food collections will be conducted by the letter
carriers who will be covering most of the town. Whether or not flyers
announcing the drive are distributed in a given area is up to the individual
carrier. So, you may or may not see them in your neighborhood.
Where Scouts and Scouters are needed
Huge amounts of food are generated by this drive. Our help is most needed
at the Food Bank, breaking down and sorting the donations. Food begins to
arrive at the Food Bank at about 1:30PM and peaks out at about 3-4PM. They can
really us our help anytime from 1:30 through the time all the food is sorted.
Come anytime and stay as long as you are able. If you have donations, you can
bring them then or give them to someone who is going to attend.
Directions
The new Food Bank is located on Stone House Lane which is just past
the fair grounds. There will be tents set up in front of the building so I'm
told you can't miss it.
