STRAWBERRY
SOCIAL -- Sunday, June 5th
To: All Scouts & Parents-- Please Read and
Follow-Up
General:
The Strawberry Social is the only fund raiser for Troop 474. It is very important that all scouts and parents participate on the day of the event. Scouts will receive 50 tickets which sell for $4.00 each. Sign-up sheets will be put out for times and locations where we have received permission to stand out in front of businesses. If you have not received your tickets or need more tickets, please contact Mike Brechlin 453-1520, or Treasurer Walter Heinemann 453-5184. The sign up sheets will be available at each Troop meeting.
Tickets Locations (include
but are not limited to):
In general we have permission to be in front of the following businesses every weekend from morning until evening through Saturday June 5th.
·
Page Hardware, Blockbuster (Plaza with the Big
Y), Tommy K's, Country Hardware,
· Although you are free to sell tickets to neighbors and friends anyway you want, you are also encouraged to sell in town anywhere you can get permission. See Mr. Brechlin or Mr. Heinemann if you have questions
Procedures:
· Scouts are given 50 tickets to sell at $4 a piece. Besides the locations we have identified above, please sell tickets to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and anybody else you can. After the scouts have sold their first 25 tickets, for each ticket thereafter, the scout will receive 50% of the sale to go into the scout's account which must be used unquestionably to buy scout equipment (i.e. tent, sleeping bag, back pack…) or a BSA event (i.e. BSA summer camp, Philmont…). Use of the scout account requires approval of Scout Master Pecoraro &/or Treasurer Heinemann.
·
When selling at the locations, the scout
should wear his class A uniform. It is helpful to have a poster that states on
the poster in VERY LARGE LETTERS
what the EVENT (Troop 474 Strawberry
Social), the price ($4), the DATE (Sunday, June 5th), the TIME (11-4 pm), the LOCATION
(Guilford Green), and the Adams and GHS Jazz Bands will perform from 12-1:30.
·
Selling
Example: "This is an event with
live music, a large strawberry shortcake made from
fresh strawberries on a biscuit with ice cream topping and includes coffee or
juice."
·
Remember that the scouts should thank any
folks that purchase tickets. Some people
may just want to make donations. In order to be sure the scouts receive credit
for the donations, tear up one ticket so it looks like a sold ticket. Any amounts of donations received that don't
add up to a whole ticket will just be turned in with the rest of the money as a
donation.
·
Younger scouts must have parental
supervision for ticket sales. Bring some
$1's in order to make needed change.
·
Return
ticket sales money to our Treasurer, Walter Heinemann, at Troop meetings. Every
Scout is responsible to turn in money or unused tickets equal in value of total
tickets issued. Scout parents are urged to submit checks in lieu of cash to
reduce risks associated with cash.
Strawberry Social Day:
· Scouts and parents are needed on Sunday, June 5th - Parent volunteers are needed to help with cutting strawberries from 6:30 AM until about 10 AM. Carolyn Jagielski is coordinating this activity, please call Carolyn at 457-1963 to volunteer.
· Scouts need to be on the Green by 7:30 AM to assist with setting up chairs, tables, and miscellaneous equipment need for the day. Also putting the demonstration together.
· All Scouts are expected to be at the Strawberry Social, a fun day for all and an important fund raising event for our Troop. A duty roster managed by SM Mr. Pecoraro will be posted the day of the event. It is important to know everyone's planned attendance for preparation of the duty roster.
· Good luck selling tickets, remember to smile and thank anyone for considering helping scouts. More information will be coming as we get closer to the event and be sure to keep an eye out for the sign-up sheets at the Troop meetings.
